Happy Tuesday! I can barely believe it’s the end of July. August? Really!?
I think I went into shock this morning when I came to the realization that my marathon training sort of needs to start this month…and by this month I mean this week! With that being said, the end of July also brings about reveal day for Foodie Pen Pals!
For all those scratching their heads in confusion, Foodie Pen Pals is kind of like a more laid back, social and food-related Birchbox (ok, maybe that’s a stretch, but just go with it). Every month, one hardworking blogger – Lindsey at the Lean Bean Green – compiles all the participants, matches them up with other participants and blasts out their name and email addresses. We contact our match-ups for any additional info (while also possibly stalking their blogs, since many are food bloggers) and send them a box of $15 worth of treats!
It’s actually pretty insane, the number of people that are participating in this. Check out the link to Lindsey’s July reveal post, where everyone links up at the bottom. Seriously amazing.
This month, I received a box from Steph of PJ’s and Yoga Pants (this is also a fun way to find new blogs to follow!). She included some cinnamon raisin swirl peanut butter from a company based in NYC (which I haven’t had a chance to try yet!), Cranberry fruit spread from a local farm in her ‘hood (Boston) as well as the new starbucks refreshers drink mixes and a dark chocolate bar.
I will start by saying that the PB&J were amazing! I haven’t had fancy pb before and this one definitely threw me for a loop. Also loved that it’s all natural, but sans the whole separation anxiety that usual all natural pb’s can have. You know what I mean. That layer of oil sitting up top that you kind of just want to POUR OUT. Yep, none of that here. I’m thinking of using it on some baked goods…cheesecake, possibly?
I’ve also pretty much polished off all of the starbucks drinks. Hehehe. As a long time starbucks addict that recently jumped ship for Joe’s, this might be something I have to come back to. It was far better than the canned version they sell at the grocery stores and I can only imagine how “refreshing” the barista version will be!
I haven’t dived into the dark choco yet, but I’m sure I will shortly. Sweets don’t typically last long in our apartment.
