I just got back from six amazingly long days in Vegas. We tried to do it all, see it all, and eat it all.
Seriously.
Along with EIGHT buffets (which I’ll blog about later) we looked through Yelp for some local eats. When Ry stumbled across Luv It Frozen Custard, we decided it was something we needed to try.
Yelpers gave this place four out of five stars, but they do caution that this neighborhood is a little “rough around the edges”. It’s only a few blocks from the strip, but I probably wouldn’t check this place out after dark!
After reading all the reviews, I was expecting something amaaaazing, but was sadly disappointed.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not BAD…it’s just not spectacular. The custard is reminiscent of McDonald’s ice cream, but a richer version.
We tried the “Western”, which is their #1 sundae, with hot fudge, caramel and pecans. Now pecans are Ry’s favorite, and he loves caramel with just about the same amount of passion, but neither of us were “wow’d” like we wanted to be.
Maybe we over-hyped it in our heads? (Hate when that happens!)
His parents got the “Luv-it Special” with strawberries and pecans, and while they enjoyed it, they weren’t wow-d either. (Main photo)
In any case, if you’re around the Stratosphere, check this place out and let me know what you think! Maybe the other sundaes are more exciting? I’m thinking we’ll try the “Super Sundaes” next time we’re there. Hehe.

It's amazing how easy it is to rely on technology. Our oven back home, for instance, was electric. It had the spiffy digital temperature reading and magically baked everything the way I wanted it to. more
Hits and Misses from…September!?!

It's almost been two weeks, and somehow, it's still so surreal. I'm moved by how quickly the community has come together, planned events in his honor and even started a scholarship in Ryan's name! In the midst of all this, of everyone's kind words, of photos being posted, I kept seeing this one pair of shorts. I know he has a bunch of incredibly bright, vivid Jams, but for whatever reason, these were stuck in my head. This week has been ridiculous for me. I've been working crazy hours, studying for finals, writing a paper, and trying to keep up with my work out schedule. Of course, being the procrastinator that I am, I decided that this week would be a great time to get some baking in. Hahaha. more
Nope. Thats pretty much it. I’m not sure what the big deal is about it either. Its like soft serve only sorta …eggy-er? I’ve had it before .. had it at some famous-super-crowded-wait-long-time frozen custard place in North Carolina and well .. I wasn’t wow’d either.
